WHAT ACCOMMODATION IS AVAILABLE?...
Dillington House offers a range of en-suite accommodation across three buildings; the House, the Mews and The Hyde. Superior bedrooms provide more space with a few extra touches and all of the bedrooms in The Hyde are superior and fully accessible. Against each residential course you will find a price for a standard single room/shared occupancy of a standard double room - price per person, as well as a price for the non-resident fee.
Please note that rooms are allocated on a first-come first-served basis. Early booking is recommended if you have any special requirements.
We have 16 fully accessible en-suite double bedrooms available, mostly in The Hyde. Most lecture rooms have induction loops, and information can be provided in other formats for those with a visual impairment.
We have a number of Disabled Parking spaces for Blue Badge Holders only in front of the Mews building. Named reserved parking is not available.
Personal assistants to disabled people can attend a residential course with a fee reduction of 20%. Please contact the Bookings Office to discuss your needs - 01460 258613, email DillingtonBookings@somerset.gov.uk.
Fees quoted are per person unless stated otherwise. VAT is not charged on our course fees, however Dillington House reserves the right to vary other charges as necessary and VAT is included where applicable.
The residential fee includes tuition, full board and accommodation plus travel and admission for field trips where applicable, unless stated otherwise.
The non-residential fee* includes tuition, lunch, dinner and refreshments plus travel and admission for field trips where applicable, unless stated otherwise.
Courses starting with dinner include an evening session which will run from approximately 8.30pm - 9.30pm. Most weekend and short courses include one free session each full day - this will either be after lunch or after dinner dependent on the course content. Daily sessions for weekend and short courses usually begin at 9.30am
*Non-Residential fees for the Dillington Summer School courses do not include dinner.
The day course fee includes tuition, lunch and refreshments plus travel and admission for field trips where applicable, unless stated otherwise.
Registration for most day courses take place from 9.00am and the first session usually begins at 9.45am with the day ending at 4.00pm. However, this will be confirmed when you receive your course timetable.
Students are generally responsible for providing their own materials and individual items of equipment especially on practical courses. If there are any additional costs, they will be shown on the course information sheet. If the tutor is able to provide materials or equipment, this will also be shown. Please note: Dillington House reserves the right to vary the course programme or substitute a tutor should it be deemed necessary for whatever reason.
Residential Courses - a deposit* is required when booking all residential courses. The balance of your fee will be due four weeks prior to the course start date, unless stated otherwise. After this date you will be liable for the full course fee. (*£50 unless stated otherwise).
If you do not pay the course fee in accordance with these terms we reserve the right to cancel your place on the course and you will be invoiced for the full course fee.
Day Courses, Concerts, Lectures, Events, Pre-booked Meals and Additional Stays are payable in full on booking.
We accept payment by Credit/Debit Card except American Express. Cheques should be made payable to Somerset County Council.
Payments are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another course or event. If you cannot attend then you can nominate a substitute at no further cost. We recommend that you take out your own insurance in case you have to cancel through illness or unforeseen circumstances.
Should it be necessary for you to cancel your booking, in the event of Dillington holding a waiting list for places on a course we will attempt to replace your booking. If we are successful, a refund will be calculated based on the difference between your fee and the fee of the replacement booking, which may not be the same.
WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE OF STUDENTS?...
The minimum age for attending our courses is 18.
CAN I BRING A PARTNER OR FRIEND?...
We are happy to accommodate partners or friends who are not attending a course. Likewise, if you wish to stay at Dillington in order to undertake private study, we will do our best to accommodate you.

Dillington House reserves the right to cancel a course for whatever reason but where this happens we will endeavour to give as much notice as possible. In the event of a cancelled course your fee and your deposit will be refunded.
Every effort is made to ensure that the courses run as described. However, Dillington House and Somerset County Council can take no responsibility for consequential losses should, in exceptional circumstances, any arrangements need to be changed for any reason.
A fully licensed bar is open to all bona fide users of Dillington House over 18 years of age.
Dillington House provides free WiFi for guests but this service cannot be guaranteed. If you intend to access the service you do so at your own risk.
Dillington House and Somerset County Council accept no responsibility for any damage or loss as a result of using the WiFi facilities at Dillington House. Dillington House nor Somerset County Council are responsible for any security matters concerning the service.
We regret that dogs (other than assistance dogs) or other pets may not be brought onto the premises.
BY BUS: First Group bus 30/30A leaves Taunton bus station regularly and passes through Ilminster - you will need to take a taxi from Ilminster to Dillington.
BY TRAIN: The nearest railway station is Taunton although some visitors find Yeovil and Crewkerne more convenient. Please make your own arrangements for transfers from the station - Taxis from Taunton to Dillington cost approximately £38 one way.
CYCLISTS: We have two rails under the Mews archway for securing bikes.

It is rare to find a venue - and an audience - so thoroughly dedicated to the enjoyment culture and cultivation of the mind as Dillington House and its visitors. As someone who hasn't lived in Britain for the past two decades, Dillington was also a delightful reminder of the beauties of English landscape and rural architecture. It was a pleasure to speak there and I envy those who can visit frequently.
