Suitable for those with some experience. I want to help you produce water colours that are lively and individual and to use this wonderful medium to maximum advantage. Join me and together we will examine those ‘nasty gliches’ that ruin your masterpieces. You know what I’m talking about. Muddy mixes, overworking and lack of planning.

Tutor Information

Clare DuVergier

Clare DuVergier is a well-known painter in the South West and lives in a remote area in the Quantock Hills. She trained both as an actress and as a teacher and her first job at the Northcott Theatre in Exeter instilled a great love of the local landscape. In 1990 having followed a number of career paths she returned to the South West and to a full time career in painting in 2000. She has exhibited at a number of galleries in the South West and Scotland and for many years as part of SAW (Somerset Art Week). She is now much in demand as a lively teacher of traditional watercolour. She works primarily with watercolour and occasionally in oils and mixed media. Her paintings are divers and include both figurative and abstract works with a particular interest in colour and light.

It is rare to find a venue - and an audience - so thoroughly dedicated to the enjoyment culture and cultivation of the mind as Dillington House and its visitors. As someone who hasn't lived in Britain for the past two decades, Dillington was also a delightful reminder of the beauties of English landscape and rural architecture. It was a pleasure to speak there and I envy those who can visit frequently. Giles Tremlett (2012)
