2020 sees the 400 anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower, but what are the West Country connections to the ‘New World?’ Some of the earliest settlers in Virginia, West Indies, Newfoundland and New England came from the south west. We will look at these early settlers and their impact on the development of these new colonies. Who made good and made their fortune? Ideal for anyone interested in local and migration history.

Jane Ferentzi-Sheppard

Jane Ferentzi-Sheppard is a professional family and local historian and tutor in Adult Education. She runs a variety of family history courses in Somerset and Dorset and talks to organisations all over the country. Jane is a regular speaker at the Society of Genealogists and the ‘Who do you think you are? yearly event at Olympia.
