Study Tour: An Adventure in Barcelona

Course: Study Tour: An Adventure in Barcelona
Tutor: Chris Pollard
Start Date: 5th April 2020
End Date: 9th April 2020

Departing from Dillington on Sunday afternoon, we make for Bristol Airport and take our direct flights to Barcelona where we arrive for a short walk and a dinner on classic Catalan Cuisine. We spend 4 nights in the centre of this endlessly fascinating city. Our itinerary takes us first to the Roman city, brilliantly preserved in the subterranean galleries of the Museum of History. We continue in the heart of the medieval city, the Gothic Quarter, visiting the Cathedral and the remarkable church of Santa Maria deal Mar, the loveliest gothic church in Spain. Barcelona has a number of world-famous museums including the National Museum of Catalan Art, where the fabulous medieval frescos and sculpture from 50 churches are desiplayed in full-size replicas of the churches, the Miro Foundation, which houses the finest collection of this wonderful artist's work in the world and the Picasso Museum, which offers an incomparable insight into both the early and late work of this great master. We visit them all. There will be a Modernista Day devoted to the outstanding architecture of the first decades of the 20th century, including, naturally, the masterpieces by Antoni Gaudi, the Sagrada Familia and the Pedrera.
We shall spend some time in the best market in Europe and there will be an opportunity for clients to attend a concert at the wonderful Palau de la Musica Catalana or an Opera at the Liceu. And of course we shall taste the best of Catalan Cuisine.

As a film-maker, I travel the world but few places offer such repose, intellectual stimulation and comfort. I can't wait to come back. My hat is most certainly off to all the hard-working team at Dillington. Their commitment to high quality service and programme innovation is truly remarkable. I thoroughly recommend it! Phil Grabsky
