This workshop is aimed at anyone looking to do basic bookbinding at home without much specialised equipment. We will cover paper grain and folding, selecting appropriate materials, tools and adhesives. We will bind three different book structures which will give you the foundations of bookbinding. Please note there is an additional £10 payable to the tutor for materials.
Sarah Jarrett-Kerr trained at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts in the 1970s. From there she set up a bindery at The British School in Rome. Since then she has always had her own studio, working from home and taking private commissions. For more than five years she has led a bookbinding workshop for first year students at South Devon College. From time to time she gives private lessons.

It is rare to find a venue - and an audience - so thoroughly dedicated to the enjoyment culture and cultivation of the mind as Dillington House and its visitors. As someone who hasn't lived in Britain for the past two decades, Dillington was also a delightful reminder of the beauties of English landscape and rural architecture. It was a pleasure to speak there and I envy those who can visit frequently.
