This is a practical course for all abilities of lacemakers from those who have a knowledge of only the basic stitches to those who wish to study advanced techniques in the British and European laces. Many of the continental laces are taught with the aid of a colour-coded diagram to help students continue their work at home. Time will be given to relating threads to patterns and finishing and mounting lace.
Patricia Bury has taught over twenty five years at venues throughout the country including the British College of Lace. She was a founder member of the Lace Guild, serving on the Executive Education and Assessment Committees. Patricia is a member of the International Lace Organisation, serving as a British Council Member for six years. She was one of three judges at the congress in Nottingham in 2002. Her lace appears in Honiton Lace Patterns by Elsie Luxton and in Bedfordshire Lace by Margaret Turner and her lace has been exhibited in Europe and Japan.Back to List Make Booking Enquiry
I love going to Dillington. Where is there like it? Arriving is like a decompression, a deep breath of pure air. The programmes of courses, concerts and talks are exceptional. The company is delightful; the food and the ambiance add to the pleasure; and all set in a magical landscape which seems to me a secret Somerset paradise. In a world of increasing dislocation, Dillington has a real sense of its place in the world.
