Join us for a fascinating journey of discovery through one of Spain's remotest regions. In the far north west corner of the Iberian Peninsula Galicia is a region apart. Its Atlantic coastline is spectacular, its interior verdant and appealing, yet more or less ignored by visitors. Its cities are vibrant, its villages picturesque, its culture unique and it has its own language. At its heart is the great city of Santiago de Compostela; we will also visit La Coruna, Vigo and Pontevedra and follow the history of Galicia from the pre-Roman Celts to the present day. We will listen to Galician music, read Galician poetry, drink Galician wine and taste Galician food. There will be an opportunity to watch Mondays in the Sun, a moving depiction of Galicia today. All-comers welcome. This half day (afternoon) course running over 5 days (Monday-Friday) forms part of the two weeks’ Summer School organised by Roger Priest, which is now in its 13th year. The Summer School includes a selection of morning courses, afternoon courses or full day courses.
