This famous novel and its equally famous epic film is written in the genre of generations of novels by Russian authors in previous ages but especially during the upheavals of the nineteenth century in which unprecedented political and social turmoil and revolution took place. The day will begin with an overview of these important novels and the main themes they describe, then during the remainder of the day we will study the text and discuss the plot, characters and social revolutions of their times. It should be an exciting journey! This day is an extension of our usual Book Club and the extra time will enable us to explore more deeply and fully this fascinating novel by Boris Pasternak and be enriched by it as we are by every good book with existential themes.
Fee includes lunch & refreshments.
