The British Constitution has developed in a pragmatic way much influenced by Hobbes, Locke, Smith and Mill. The issues they raised are still debated; the role of the State; its relation to Economics; the source of Authority; Liberty and Regulation. What is the function of the state? Is there a social contract between Citizens and also with the Government? The Fathers of the Constitution explored these issues. In a democracy so shall we during this day. All-comers welcome.
John Rogan is an Occasional Lecturer in Medieval History and Religious Studies. He has led tours of crusader sites and other historic locations. I love going to Dillington. Where is there like it? Arriving is like a decompression, a deep breath of pure air. The programmes of courses, concerts and talks are exceptional. The company is delightful; the food and the ambiance add to the pleasure; and all set in a magical landscape which seems to me a secret Somerset paradise. In a world of increasing dislocation, Dillington has a real sense of its place in the world.
