Following Swan Lake’s disastrous 1877 Moscow premiere, which devastated Tchaikovsky, the ballet went on to triumph in St Petersburg in 1885 with new choreography by Petipa and Ivanov, confirming its composer’s genius and creating a worldwide success which continues to attract choreographers such as Matthew Bourne. This course is fully illustrated with slides, archive film clips and DVDs.
Bridgett Vane trained as a professional dancer and dance teacher. She has combined a career in retail, PR, arts management and interior design with work as dance adviser to Southern Arts Association, and as founder of Southampton Dance Circle. She brings to the course an insight into the balletic aspects of ballets from a dancer’s perspective.Back to List
