This course will explore the manifold moods and expressions of love, that most vital human emotion. We shall study the origins of love poetry including the role of the troubadour in southern France, the poem "Roman de la Rose" and the emergence of courtly love.
Love in all its aspects, from fulfilment to bitter rejection will be studied through poetry and prose from a variety of nations and centuries. The three writing sessions will provide you with the opportunity to share your own experiences and we will hold discussions in a relaxed and supportive environment.
