Back by popular demand! From our base at beautiful Dillington House join horticulturist, Christine Pritchard, who will guide you around some more of the most interesting private gardens, both large and small, from the heart of the countryside to the Somerset coast. In the company of like-minded enthusiasts, you will learn about the development of the gardens from the owners or head gardeners. You are sure to take home ideas and inspiration. No particular gardening knowledge is necessary to enjoy this relaxed course.
Christine Pritchard comes from Somerset. She worked as an under-gardener at Showerings (now Kilver Court) in Shepton Mallet before going to horticultural college. In 1987 she returned to Somerset and started her own landscape design business. She has an MA in environmental policy and management from the University of the West of England, where her dissertation was on landscaping barn conversions. Following success at Chelsea Flower Show, she worked on the "Roots and Shoots" gardening series for HTV. She also lectures at the University of Bristol Botanic Garden and Stoke Lodge, Bristol, in horticulture and garden design.

I came to Somerset to talk about Socrates and his search for the good life. And in many ways I found it incarnated in Dillington House. Here there is a love of beauty and truth. To find a sympathetic venue with an exquisitely rich history, open to all and encouraging debate, creativity and a passion for life is exactly the kind of thing that would have made Socrates smile. I can't wait to come back.
