Tutor Information

Carla Taylor

Carla Taylor creates contemporary sustainble 3d wool sculptures inspired by the animals and landscape of the British countryside and coastline using the technique of needle felting.  Needle felting involves using barbed needles of various sizes to repeatedly stab and sculpt wool fibres together, building layers of wool, transforming the fleece in to a felted work of art!  Carla likes to work closely with local Dorset farmers promoting the use of local and British wool and will often refer to conservation issues within her sculptures.

Carla works from her studio at the Mousehole Woolery situated in the heart of the Dorset countryside. For further details click here

It is rare to find a venue - and an audience - so thoroughly dedicated to the enjoyment culture and cultivation of the mind as Dillington House and its visitors. As someone who hasn't lived in Britain for the past two decades, Dillington was also a delightful reminder of the beauties of English landscape and rural architecture. It was a pleasure to speak there and I envy those who can visit frequently. Giles Tremlett (2012)
