This workshop is for newcomers and those who want to improve the creative quality of their images. We will look at various rules and techniques to create well composed and balanced images, including; the 6 key visual elements, the rule of thirds, anchor points, viewpoint, juxtaposition and cropping. The theory is richly illustrated with examples of Brian’s landscape, wildlife and people images from around the world; and you will have ample opportunity to practise the theory taking shots around Dillington’s house and gardens. This workshop is appropriate for film or digital cameras, smartphone or iPad users.
Brian Anderson is a lecturer, adventurer and architect, based on the Wirral. He has travelled to over 50 nations and territories in Europe, Africa, Asia, South America and further afield to the Geographic North Pole and Antarctica, to capture landscape, wildlife and travel images. In addition to giving illustrated talks on these trips, Brian lectures on great explorers, the visual arts, travel and wildlife photography and the history of early photography. Brian’s images and articles have been published in travel brochures, international websites and UK photographic journals and lifestyle magazines. It is rare to find a venue - and an audience - so thoroughly dedicated to the enjoyment culture and cultivation of the mind as Dillington House and its visitors. As someone who hasn't lived in Britain for the past two decades, Dillington was also a delightful reminder of the beauties of English landscape and rural architecture. It was a pleasure to speak there and I envy those who can visit frequently.
