The Middle Ages are still all around us in the shape of thousands of churches, castles and houses; a vast array of letters, court records and other documents allow us a fascinating view of the everyday life that went on in and around these buildings, at all levels of society, between 1066 and 1500. During this course we will explore the evidence and discover what life was like in this period.
Nick trained at Salisbury Art College gaining a Diploma in Art and Design. He has over 40 years’ experience working in archaeology and museums, including the Museum of London, the Ashmolean Museum and the British Museum, as an archaeological illustrator. It is rare to find a venue - and an audience - so thoroughly dedicated to the enjoyment culture and cultivation of the mind as Dillington House and its visitors. As someone who hasn't lived in Britain for the past two decades, Dillington was also a delightful reminder of the beauties of English landscape and rural architecture. It was a pleasure to speak there and I envy those who can visit frequently.
