Academic success, friend of the French revolutionaries and painter to Napoleon: this study day focuses on the life and work of Jacques Louis David. We will survey the life of this great artist and analyse the way he adapted his subject matter and style to changing political times and in particular the propagandistic nature of the paintings he made during the French Revolution.
Angie Smith has a first class degree in Art History and a PhD in Combined Historical Studies. She has more than a decade’s experience teaching undergraduates and taking adult education classes for Leicester University.
